33 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 33 Weeks

Size of Baby: About 17 inches long and almost 5lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 17lbs. Last week at my doc appointment, they said I gained 5 lbs in 2 weeks (a total of 20lbs)!!! Yikes! This morning when I weighed myself I had gone down a bit. Not sure why I went down maybe because the last couple days I've just been feeling a bit blah. Is it possible to have a little of the 1st trimester yuckies return the last part of the pregnancy?? Ok, it's not THAT bad, but just not feeling 100%.

Maternity Clothes: All pants and dresses are maternity now. Still wearing some regular shirts if they are long enough.

Gender: Still a surprise!!!! I go back and forth all the time on this. Some days I feel boy and some days I feel girl. Can't wait to find out!

Movement: Lots and lots!! Now it's not just kicks and pokes, but more RUMBLING! When I went in for my last appointment I had a sonogram and it's so funny because this baby and baby Cole are in the exact same position! Last time I was saying how it's so uncomfortable to sleep on my left side, and the lady told me that's because all the arms and legs are on the one side. Makes sense. It's just funny that both babies lay in there the same way.

Sleep: The first part of the night I sleep like a baby but then around 2:00am I'll typically be awake for an hour or so.

What I miss: I think about 4 times I week I'll say to Nick, "Know what I could really go for?" and he replies "A milkshake". He knows me too well....and someone better have a milkshake for me at the hospital after the baby is born!! Preferably a banana pudding shake from Chick Fil A!!

Cravings: Milkshakes, ice cream....sweets...everything I can't have :)

Symptoms: Mostly feeling pretty good, by 7:00 at night, I'm pretty exhausted though. Other than being tired and a little blah this week, I've been feeling great!
Best Moment of the week: Looking at our calendar and realizing we only have 5 weekends left! I cannot wait and hope the next 6 weeks fly by! I'm ready to not be pregnant anymore :)

I am now having to go to the doctor every week now. Every other week they will do a sonogram and then the in-between weeks they will do Non-Stress tests. It's just something they do with women who have high glucose levels. They just hook me up to monitors and I have to press a button every time I feel the baby move. Simple enough!

My last sonogram was great. My fluid levels are right where they should be, baby is in the 78% and she said that at this rate, baby will definitely be over 8lbs but under 9lbs.

I am starting to get a bit nervous about the delivery. Cole's labor/delivery were a piece of cake and I feel like "that can't happen twice, can it"? I never once felt any contractions till I got to the hospital with Cole so I keep wondering if I'll go into labor on my own, will the baby come early, late?? My family made some flight reservations to come down when the baby is born, so I hope they get down here in time. My parents, along with Rachel and Cameron are making the trip down and will probably stay about a week. I'm excited for them to be here and luckily we have a great friend that can change thier flights around if the baby comes early or late.

I sure hope the next 6 weeks go by fast!! :)

Can I complain? Just for a minute??

Ok, obviously I love my family more than anything, but if I could kick them out, just for a night....I would!! That includes the dogs!!!
Let me take you back to last night. Nick went to a concert with some buddies in downtown Dallas, so I was home alone with Cole and the dogs. No big deal! After I got Cole to bed I had plans to sit and read my book because I have book club on Thursday and still have 100 pages to read! Yikes! Well, Benson starts pacing around the house and I knew he was up to something. Next thing I know, he's in the hallway throwing up. Now let me tell you, Benson JUST ate dinner about 2 minutes prior to this, so you can image what the consistency of this throw up was like. To make it worse, he did it right in the corner of the hallway so it got between the wall and carpet (yes, that is possible) and I'm having to dig it out with my fingers. Now, I know you all know how throw up is one of my biggest fears so you can imagine how I felt about this. I even contemplated leaving it for Nick to deal with when he got home!
Alright...got the carpet all cleaned up and I go to bed around 10:00, read my book awhile longer but can't fall asleep till about 11:00.
I knew Nick would be home late, but when I woke up at 1:30 and Nick was still not home, I start to worry and can't go back to sleep. He finally gets home, gets into bed and minutes later, I cannot ignore all the snoring going on underneath our bed (Roxy). My husband may or may not have also been a part of all that noise making, but I'm a good wife and would never tell on my husband like that! :)
So I get the idea to go in and sleep with Cole. Since we just moved him to a queen bed AND that matress is the most comfortable in the house, I thought, why not!?! I go lay down and after laying there awhile I realize it smells like pee. I feel over on Cole's side of the bed and it's soaked, he's soaked, everything is soaked! (note to self, no more juice before bed). This is about 3:00am and I decide to carefully take off Cole's pj's, change his diaper and then take him into our bed. He stayed asleep until I layed him down in our bed, now he's awake! So the next 2 hours consist of me getting kicked, Cole practically laying on top of me, crawling all over, wanting more juice and playing with my hair. At that point, he wanted off the bed and wanted to watch Toy Story. Again, this is about 5:00am at this point. We went out to the family room, put Toy Story on and he layed on his chair and finally fell asleep.....

But wait....as soon as he falls asleep, my alarm is going off for me to get up!!! Time to get ready for the day.

This is how I left Cole this morning, at least Nick was nice enough to take him into Jennifer's for me so he could sleep awhile.

I'm pretty sure I will be napping right along with Cole this afternoon and going to bed at 8:00pm. Not a great way to start the week, but it's a good thing I think my family is cute because at 3:00am, I was ready to trade them all in :)

New bedroom and new paint

Like I said before, a few days ago we switched out the furniture between the kids rooms and I wanted to post some pictures of our progress.
Here is Cole's new (well not really new) BIG bed. His room is not that big to begin with, so putting a queen bed in the room definitely made things a bit squished! He also isn't liking going to bed like he did in his toddler bed. I mean, I still can't complain but instead of running to his bed and willingly getting in, he now fights a little bit and will cry for about 30 seconds :(
A lot of people ask my why we are putting him in such a big bed, but with my family visiting often and us having house guests, we needed to make sure we have a bed for visitors to sleep in. For some reason I can't imagine my tall brother and sister-in-law wanting to share a twin bed, ha!

Another view....

As I mentioned, my parents were busy painting the other bedroom while they were here last weekend. I know, we are mean and put them to work when they fly all the way down here to babysit, BUT, they did offer. It didn't take much to convince Nick since he hates painting more than anything and I'd kinda prefer to not be around all the paint fumes right now. I actually really like to paint but like I said, paint fumes plus climbing ladders....probably not the best idea right now! :)
Our house is pretty much all warm colors and I wanted to go with a cool color for once so that's why we decided on light blue. The blue will go with the bedding that we had for Cole and then if it's a girl we will pull in lots of pinks! :)
So sorry I can't give you a full-out new baby room tour but until the kid is born, we have no idea what to do with the room.

The past week and our last mini-vacation

I am on Spring Break right now and we are having great weather here so I couldn't ask for more! Last week we were getting ready for my mom and dad to come stay at our house so they could watch Cole while Nick and I enjoyed a mini-vacation.
But first, I have to share this picture that our sitter Ms. Jenn sent me last week while I was at school. This is a typical Cole move right here....she got out the shaving cream and let the kids make a big mess with their little pile. If you notice, Cole's pile is not even messed up or played with! He is totally his father's son! Nick did not like to be messy when he was little and I guess Cole is taking after him in that aspect. Jenn said that he took his little truck on and off the pile of shaving cream, but never got his hands dirty. What a goof!

Saturday morning, Nick and I headed down to San Antonio for 3 nights with our friends the Bell's. They are some great friends from college and we absolutely love spending time with them. We are so blessed to have great friends like them! The drive down there was kinda miserable because a typical 5-hour drive took us over 6 because traffic was terrible!
Once we got there we had a great time! We stayed right by the Alamo so we were walking distance to the Riverwalk. We did lots of walking (which I paid for by the end of the night) and ate at some wonderful restaurants. We did a river tour, went to a movie, shopped, walked, walked some more and also relaxed a little bit. Here are some pictures of our weekend....

This is Sharon next to a replica of the world's tallest man. We had to get a picture of Sharon with him because Sharon is a whole 5 ft tall so the contrast is pretty funny!

One of our favorite places to go to on the Riverwalk is Durty Nelly's. It's an Irish Pub and so fun with all the singing and crazy people. Of course Chris had to get a green beer since it was almost St. Patty's day!

One of the days we walked around the mall a little bit and Chris and Nick found some great shirts at Macy's for $5 each! Normally Nick would NEVER pick out a shirt like this but with some convincing from his wife and friends, he bit the bullet and purchased this crazy purple shirt. He got a lot of compliments on it and I think he looks like a stud in it! :)

While we were down south, my parents sent us a couple pictures of what they had been up to with Cole. One of the first things on the agenda was to get him a haircut. My mom gave him....probably haircut #54 and as usual, it turned out great!!
Here is a picture of the new haircut...they were on their way into church.

After church they took Cole to the Original Pancake House and they said Cole LOVED the blueberry waffles they got him. :)
Nick and I drove back to DFW on Tuesday and we were definitely ready to get back to see our little guy. Luckily our drive back was much smoother than the way down so it didn't take us as long to get back. My dad had to fly back to Colorado the day before we got back but my mom was still around for the day when we returned. While we were gone, my parents painted the baby's room and it turned out great! I will post pictures when we get the room mostly set up. We knew that after that room got painted that we would have to switch the furniture so while my mom was still here, Nick and my mom switched Cole's furniture out and Cole is now officially in a queen-sized bed! ha!!! We laughed so hard the first night he slept in the bed because he was so itty bitty in that big bed!
Here is a picture of him on the monitor, can you see that tiny little body in that gigantic bed?

Here is another picture of him sleeping in the bed for the first night. He did great, as expected, and still has not gotten out of his bed till morning.

Wednesday morning, Cole and I took my mom to the airport and then we headed over to Pump it Up Jr. for a little playdate. I have a couple girlfriends that are involved in a mom's group here in our area and all the kids were born in 2009 so it's great to get involved in a group with the same aged kids!

Here are some pictures of Cole, he had a blast and I literally had to drag him out of the place :)

Like I said, I just joined this new mom's group and I'm so excited because it will give us a lot of things to do this summer. They also do mom's night out and last night they did a bunco night at a wine bar that is literally down the street from our house so it was nice to be so close to home for a change. It was so much fun and I got to meet some great girls! I even walked away with $50 because I got the most bunco's! Pretty good deal!

Today we are going to a St. Patty's Day playdate at a park nearby so we are definitely keeping busy during our spring break. This week is definitely going too fast, before I know it we'll be back at school....booo!! :)

30 Weeks

I feel like my belly hasn't gotten much bigger in the last few weeks, guess that's ok, right!?! :)

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 30 Weeks
Size of Baby: Almost 16 inches long and a little over 3lbs.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 14lbs. Yay, haven't gained any weight in about 6 weeks.
There have been instances where I have to stand up and bend over to the side a bit because I constantly have either a foot or elbow digging into my left side. Sometimes very painful! I said last time that luckily I don't feel a lot of movement at night....yeah, not the case anymore. I've had a few sleepless nights because of the constant rumbling in my tummy. Everyone says you are supposed to sleep on your left side when you are pregnant, but literally it is SO uncomfortable to sleep on that side because of that constant jabbing on the left side.
Sleep: If I'm not kept awake from all the movements, I actually am sleeping great! Nick still uses the rolling pin on my legs every once in awhile and that helps a ton!!
What I miss: Being able to splurge and go have a milkshake or something. You know how when you can't have something, you want it even more!! I have always been a pretty healthy eater but would splurge and have yummy desserts or something every once in awhile so it's so hard to not fix that craving with a Shamrock milkshake or Banana Pudding milkshake.
Cravings:
Shamrock milkshake, Banana Pudding milkshake or any ice cream for that matter.
Symptoms: Feeling good, starting to get a bit uncomfortable when I walk, literally I feel like my insides are going to break. I was the same way with Cole, but not till about 35 weeks or so...I have a long 2 months ahead of me! Also been having crazy dreams....let's see, last night it was that a cougar was chasing me, but I was faster so he never got me :) ha!
Best Moment of the week: My parents are coming into town on Thursday to watch Cole while Nick and I go to San Antonio with some friends. We are so excited because this will be the last time I can travel before baby comes. Can't wait to spend a weekend with the hubs and some great friends! Again, it would be SO much more fun if I was free to eat whatever I wanted...boohoo!! :)

Wow, can you tell food is on my mind lately?? haha! Usually food isn't a huge issue for me but like I said, when you can't have it, you want it that much more! Nick has been enjoying our diet lately because he gets lots of meat, something he didn't get to experience when I was pregnant with Cole (I hated meat while pregnant with him). I do need to start coming up with more recipe ideas because I'm getting sick of the typical chicken, rice/potatoes, vegetable dinner.

Mama-Son weekend

Cole and I got to have a little weekend to ourselves, well, one night at least. Saturday morning started off with me sending Nick out at 4:00am to try to get Cole registered in a Mother's Day Out program at a local church. We knew it would be very competitive to get him into it but I was determined because I really didn't have a plan B if this didn't work out. I know a lot of Mother's Day Out programs are hard to get into, but I guess this church is particularily hard...I don't know if it's because it's Chuck Swindoll's church or that it just has a great program or what but Nick informed me that some of these parents are pretty crazy! Apparently some parents were camped out starting around noon the day before, that's intense! The actual registration started at 8am, so we thought Nick getting there at 4:30ish was just fine....AND, all worked out great! He is 2nd on the wait list but they told us that it's pretty much a guarantee he'll get a spot because they always go through a ton of people on the wait list by the end of the summer. He will start in September and go 2 days a week (Wednesday and Fridays). It works out great because our church has a mom's bible study on Tuesday mornings so that will also give him time to play with other kids at our church.
After Nick got home from the mad rush at MDO, he headed down to Waco with some buddies to go to the Baylor/UT basketball game and stay down there for the night. They had a great time and probably enjoyed the night away from their wives :)
While Nick was enjoying his night away, Cole and I got to hang out. He played with Lexie for a lot of the day since we don't have too many days left with them and then I decided that Cole and I were going to have a slumber party. Cole has never once slept in our bed and I thought it would be fun to cuddle up with him for a night. He thought it was pretty cool and was pretty excited to sleep in the big bed, however, I did realize a few things during the night: Cole talks AND giggles in his sleep! He was pretty entertaining and I know this because mom didn't get a lot of sleep, ha! So, even though it was fun to snuggle with him, that was probably a one-time deal, we all just sleep better in our own beds. However, it was kinda fun waking up to a cute boy poking me in the nose to wake up, "mama, get up". Silly guy!!

We were excited to have dad come home on Sunday! We FINALLY went to Home Depot and picked out some paint for the baby's room. With us not knowing what we are having, we actually decided to go with a very light blue so that if it's a boy, it will go with Cole's old bedding and if it's a girl then we will incorporate lots of pink and girly colors with the light blue. Nick and I were totally made for eachother, we both go into the store, stand there for about 2 minutes and decide on a color. We are not those people that take 20 swatches home and hum and ha over it for weeks. Let's just pick a color and go with it! We can't wait to see how it looks in the room! Luckily when my parents are here this next weekend, they are going to help us paint, because Nick would rather poke out his eyes with a pencil than paint :)
I'm sure we will post some pictures when we have the painting all done. It will be fun to start getting the room ready, we've totally been slacking on that. Although, it truly is hard to get a lot of things situated with you don't know the gender. Oh well, we have plenty of time and it's not like the baby will be sleeping in that room for awhile anyway! That will give me something to do when I'm stuck in the house during our dreaded summers here :)
