3 Weeks

Our little Cole is already 3 weeks old and it has been such a great 3 weeks! Nick went back to work, leaving me at home alone with this....baby. I have done my fair share of babysitting and taking care of babies, but when it is your own and you are responsible for it every minute of every day, it's totally different.
He had his 2 week check up last week and everything is just great so far. He gained a whole pound over a week time span which is a lot! Usually they gain just a few ounces within a week. Apparently I'm producing cream instead of milk...ha!

Everyone keeps asking me if we are getting any sleep. To be honest, he actually does really good during the nights. He pretty much sleeps 4-5 hour spans, so I only get up a couple times a night. Now, we are still working on getting him to sleep in his own bed, so he's in our bed with me about 50% of the time. I really don't mind him sleeping with me, I just get a little nervous that I'm going to suffocate him or something. Sometimes when he's actually in his own bed, I'll wake up in a panic thinking he's in bed with me and I can't find him...ha!
We have discovered this week that he really does so much better when we swaddle him real tight. For the longest time I thought he hated being swaddled because he always has his hands up by his face, but after swaddling him a couple times, I found that he sleeps better when he's tucked it all tight because he doesn't startle himself as much. I also find that he doesn't like sleeping on his back, so I have to put him on his side.

Here is a cute picture of him sleeping...snug as a bug in a rug!

We also started doing some "Tummy Time" with Cole this week. He was a little unsure about it the first couple times, especially because Benson and Roxy kept trying to snuggle and rub all over him, but now the dogs are used to him being on the ground and it isn't as crazy. We tried putting him on the boppy pillow to start out with, but it just seems so big, so I bought him a little surf board tummy time pad and I think that is working better.

This week I ventured out all by myself this week...well, with Cole too. It's funny all the planning that goes on when you leave the house! It was a little scary the first time, but now I'm pretty used to it and more comfortable. The weather this week has been a little chilly and being in Texas, we didn't have many cold wather outfits for Cole....so, I put him in this really cute sweather that Nick's Aunt Vickie made him and it fit him perfectly! Here is a picture of him in his sweater. However, the weather is starting to get a little warmer so I'm afraid he won't be able to wear the sweater too much longer.

Our new addition

Cole Joseph Seeman has made his grand entrance. We went into the hospital Wednesday January 28th to be induced. My parents flew into town that night and it was a little strange walking into the hospital, knowing that we would be leaving with a baby. It was so great having my parents there, especially when they had to start sticking me with needles...Nick has a hard time with needles, so my mom was able to distract me a little.

The nurses kept telling me that not much would happen that night, I would probably just experience some cramping and then in the morning they would break my water and start pitocin. Fortunetely, whatever they did to me Wednesday night seemed to really work....I went into labor a lot faster than they all assumed and by 8:57am on Thursday morning, little Cole was born. The delivery went amazing, pretty textbook! Here are a few pictures of him right after he was born.

We came home from the hospital Saturday January 31st and it was pretty strange bringing a baby into our house. Benson and Roxy were very curious with this little baby, and to make me feel better, Benson and Roxy spent a couple days at my in-laws. I just didn't want to have to think and worry about the dogs the first few days. As much as I love my dogs, I have to admit, it was pretty nice having the house so quiet! The dogs are back now and it definitely is going to take some time for the dogs to get adjusted, but I think they'll do great.

Cole has been an absolute great baby, he is so happy. The only time he really fusses is when he is hungry. We even have to wake him up during the night to feed him, so he's not keeping us up too much. He is just so fun to watch, he makes the funniest faces and is so entertaining to watch. So far, parenthood has been awesome and experiencing the day to day challenges has been very rewarding. Here are a few more pictures of Cole.

We also set up a blog just for Cole that will have new pictures posted frequently. Here is the site:

2 Weeks Away!!!

I had my doctors appointment this morning and after talking for awhile, we decided that if Baby Seeman does not come before, that we are going to schedule an induction for Thursday January 29th!!! For some reason that just made things so much more real and it's kinda scary at the same time. At first I wasn't too keen on the idea of being induced because I've heard that labor can be quite a bit more intense, but these past couple weeks are making me re-think that I for sure don't want to go much past my due date. We talked about the pros and cons of inducing and my doctor just thinks that sometimes with first time moms that if they go much past their due date that they run a higher risk of having a c-section.
I kind of like the idea of having it planned out and knowing when I'll be going in, but who's to say that he won't come before that!?! Some days I feel like he could come at any time, but then other days I'll think that he could just stay in there forever, so who knows!
Even though I'm super nervous, we are also getting SO excited. We got our car seats in stalled yesterday, and now Nick feels like a big dork with the car seat base in the back seat of his car...haha! It is very weird to have a car seat in the back of your car, especially when he's not even here yet.
Hopefully I'll get a couple more blog posts up before the big day, but please pray for us....mostly that he is healthy and that the delivery goes smoothly!

Pictures

Here are a few pictures from this past weekend...

This is a picture of me at 33 weeks....Ok, the one on top I hate b/c once again my belly looks like a torpedo.  So later on in the day once I changed clothes we took another one and this one seems better to me!

These are the funniest things ever.  Nick's Aunt Judy got us the "Pee-Pee Tee-Pees".  We laughed so hard when we saw them!

Big Baby

I had my regular doctors appointment yesterday, usually when I go in I'm in and out of the office within a few minutes because I've never had any issues, baby always seemed great, etc.  Well, yesterday was a little more exciting!
First off, since my last appointment 2 weeks ago, I only gained 1 pound!!!!!  I couldn't believe it, especially after Thanksgiving!  So that was kind of exciting.  Then....as I'm getting measured by the doctor, we come to realize that my belly had not grown any since my last appointment.  Uh, that's not normal is it?  I normally wouldn't have worried, but you have to realize that EVERYONE that I come across says to me, "you are due in January, you are small!!".  After you hear that day after day you kind of start to wonder.  So....when my measurements came back questionable, the doctor decided that doing an ultrasound would be the best thing so they could take some measurements.
So at this point, I would just like everyone to know that baby is BIG!  As the lady doing my sonogram said to me, "I'm just not sure where you are hiding this baby".  I'm almost at 33 weeks and he should be measuring at about 4lbs, not our little guy, he's about 5lbs right now.  She said he has a big head (oh joy...ha!), and long legs.  I told her that when one of the grandpas is 6 ft. 8in tall, that is to be expected.  I was so thrilled to hear that he was on the larger side because I started to worry a little bit that he wasn't growing enough.  He's just compacted in there pretty tight.  Yay for good news!!

Thanksgiving

Here are a few Thanksgiving pictures...

This is a picture of the Seeman Family AND all the dogs!  We definitely have our hands full...5 dogs!!  They definitely keep us all entertained though.

This is our Thanksgiving Day pre-meal.  Yummy chili!!

Here is me and Nick at our Sushi night...yeah yeah, I get california rolls...blah!!!  We figure about one more year till I can eat sushi again, I don't know if I can wait that long!

I am also having my last baby shower this weekend, my mom flies in today and is staying for the long weekend.  Nick and his friend Beau are getting all the husbands together the day of the shower and they are going to play Top Golf (basically a glorified driving range).  I'm glad the guys are doing that...having fun while the girls are eating good food and yummy mimosas.  (Not me of course).
All our baby furniture came in last weekend so we went to pick that up.  I love the furniture!  We got everything set up except the crib which won't be able to be assembled till after Christmas.  I can't wait to get everything up!
Less than 2 months left....YAY!!!!

Dumb Dogs!

This is a readers digest version of this story.....
Saturday, we take Benson to the vet because he tried to jump on the couch and missed, Benson hurt his leg and we get pain medication for him.  Sunday night, Nick and I come home around 10:30 to find that Roxy swiped everything off of the counter and got into the prescription bottles that had the pain medicine in them.  Benson and Roxy eat entire prescription (which is intended for Benson to take over a 2-week period by the way).  Nick and I call ER vet and they say, "bring them in asap".  We get there, both had their stomachs pumped and luckily Roxy had most of the pills in her system, otherwise it probably would have killed Benson.
I still don't understand why Roxy is hungry all the time, I mean, we feed her like normal dogs...why does she have to eat everything??
So $400 later and us still camera-less...we are glad they are ok, but bummed because we were going to use that money to BUY A NEW CAMERA!!!  Dumb dogs!!!
(They are still cute though!!!) :-)

New Picture

Nick and I decided that we were going to do the 3D sonogram, mainly because I won't be getting another sonogram till I'm almost due and I kinda wanted to see what our little guy is looking like.  So, we went to the sonogram and literally got ONE good picture!!!  Not because the lady didn't know what she was doing, but because baby had his hands in front of his face the ENTIRE TIME!!  I mean, I was put on my side, feet up in the air, and he would not budge.  Apparently he did not want his picture taken.  Besides him being stubborn, it was still cool to see everything.  He was head down with 2 hands and 1 leg by his head.  That's a pretty talented position if you ask me!  Here is the one good picture we got.

It's still fun to see his face and nose and hand, so I guess I can't complain, isn't it a cute picture!

This past weekend I wanted to start organizing his room and make room for the company that we are going to be having in the next month, so I decided to wash all the baby clothes so we could put them away till he is here and so we won't have baby clothes scattered all over our house.  Somehow that turned into Nick saying I'm in my "nesting" phase.  I am not nesting yet, just trying get things organized :-)  It was fun washing the clothes though, when I'd be folding the clothes, I'd find myself just laughing at some of them because they are just so tiny and cute!  I can't wait to dress him!

My first baby shower!

So this past weekend, I had my very first baby shower in Colorado.  It was SO good to get home and see my family and friends.  The weather was awesome and we all had a great time!  I was really sad to leave, because I probably won't be able to get back to Colorado till this spring. This was my last trip till our little guy comes because I'm not allowed to travel anymore.
Rachel, my mom and Maegan put on such a great shower, I was so impressed with everything they did.  One of my favorite parts of the shower was the awesome cake that Maegan made.  I couldn't believe she made it all by herself, and it was so yummy!  Here is a picture of the cake.

I also got to see some of my great friends from high school...

All in all, the shower was a great success and we got some awesome gifts!  We mostly got gift cards because everyone knew that I was going to be flying back to Texas, but that means Nick and I get to go shopping!!  :)
Everything else with us is great, just staying busy and enjoying our "Nick and Annie" time while we still have it.  We started our birthing class last week and I'd have to say it freaked me out a little bit, but I think that's normal.  Nick seems to really enjoy it surprisingly, he says he's learning a lot.
Baby is doing awesome, he is very active which I love....but sometimes at 3:00 am he's kind of hard to ignore, so I am awake a lot in the middle of the nights.  I guess that's God's way of training me for those middle of the night feedings!

Here is one more pictures from the shower....this is me, Rachel and Maegan.  You girls did an awesome job hosting the party!

So sorry!!!

I know, I know....I haven't updated this in a really long time and everyone wants to see pictures of the belly. WELL....that's kinda hard to do when we can't find the charger to our camera!!! Yeah, somehow misplaced the charger and haven't been able to take pictures for the last few weeks. I promise I will keep looking, otherwise we might have to break down and buy another one. I mean, our camera is about 7 years old, so it may be time to get a new one...right?? :-)

Dispite our camera woes, everything is going great. Baby is great, I'm great, Nick's great. I can definitely tell that baby is starting to run out of room and get more squished as I am starting to get quite a bit more uncomfortable. Simple tasks like: tying my shoes, bending over, shaving, putting lotion on....these things are getting quite complicated! It's kinda funny though and I just have to take it all in stride. I really can't complain about anything so I'm just embrassing all the changes going on. :-)

This week, I am officially entering my 3rd trimester and honestly getting a little freaked out. Whenever I start to think about how this baby is going to eventually come out, I get this nervous, sick feeling and sort of start to panic. That's normal right? I think I'm just going to have to take it one day at a time and not think to much about all that stuff.

Baby showers are starting to approach...my first one is in Colorado November 9th, then a school one towards the end of November, then my big Texas one December 6th...yes on my birthday!! I'm so looking forward to them, although I do hate it when all the attention is on me, but they will be a blast and can't wait for them.

I promise I will try my hardest to get some pictures posted soon...till then, this is as good as it gets! :-)
