Wheels on the Bus

We took this video last night of Cole "trying" really hard to sing along to "The Wheels on the Bus" song. He's getting pretty good at some of the motions but when it gets to the "All through the town" part of the song, he gets right on tune and tries his hardest to sing the words. It's so cute!
Also, once again, we took the video after he finished eating pasta, so no he does not have a skin issue, he's just caked with sauce and is completely filthy.
Roxy also cracks me up in the back, she's practically stalking Cole waiting for something to drop so she can eat it. I don't know what we are going to do about that girl, she is constantly hungry!

Back in Texas and swim lessons

Yesterday the three of us made our trek back to Dallas. We were pretty sad about leaving Colorado because we had a great time and couldn't have asked for better weather!
Yesterday was a super long day as we woke up around 3:30am and headed to the airport. I was surprised that Cole did fantastic on the flight and kept himself pretty entertained! Mom and dad were pretty exhausted so luckily he was being such a good boy. When we landed, we headed straight to Cole's first swim lesson. Cole was obviously pretty tired from being up so early so he crashed as soon as he got in the car. He had about a 30 minute nap before I had to wake him up for his swim lesson. Poor guy, we literally had to wake him up and throw him in the water and he was so confused. He did pretty well the first day, he cried pretty much the whole way through but Cindy, the instructor, said that was pretty normal for the first week or two.
These swim lessons aren't your typical swim lessons, Cindy basically teaches infants/toddlers survival skills and then when they are a bit older, she teaches them actual swimming skills. In the next 5-6 weeks, Cole will learn the "swim, float, swim" method so that if he ever does fall in the water, he will know how to float on his back for air. It's pretty cool if you ask me! It's also nice because the swim lessons are one-on-one and only last about 10-15 min a day, but we do go 4 days a week. It's pretty intense but I think totally necessary!
I took a little video from today so you can see his progress over the next few weeks. I do have to warn you (grandparents) that he does cry and looks like she may be torturing him a bit, but I'm just really wanting to track his progress so I can see how he started off. So, sorry in advance!

This is a pretty short week for us as we are headed up to Minnesota this coming weekend for my cousin Justin's wedding. It's going to be a crazy week going from one place to another, but I love being this busy and on the go! We will be up there for the long weekend and get to see lots of family. Can't wait!

The last few days, Colorado Style

We have been pretty busy the past couple days. We've have play dates, family pictures, Rockies game and concerts. Wednesday night our whole family was going down to the Rockies game and I wasn't really sure what we were going to do with Cole because I definitely didn't want to take him as he probably would have sit still for maybe 5 minutes. Luckily, our friends Ryan and Brianne let Cole come hang out with them. They have little Mikaela who is 2 and Mason who is 8 months, so Cole had a great time. I was a little nervous because since we have been in Colorado, he's been super clingy with me and cries whenever I leave. I thought for sure he would not do well, especially with people he didn't know very well, but as we took him over to their house, he walked in like he owned the place and never looked back! Brianne said they had a blast and she has never seen a kid eat as much as he did! ha! Apparently he was super easy for them which I'm just thrilled about!
Before we took Cole to Ryan and Brianne's, Cole had some fun in my parents truck. He thought it was super fun to play in the drivers seat.

Even trying to mess with the controls...he loves pressing buttons!
Now he's even cooler with his shades on! Where ya want to go ladies???
Once we got down to the Rockies game we had a blast! Our seats were great and it was an awesome game! They played the Red Sox and it literally was an intense game and the Rockies won in the last inning. Ryan and Rachel brought Miss Cameron and besides a few cries from the loud noises, she did awesome!
Here I am with my cute niece and her big cheeks :)
She even took a little snooze during the game. I promise she is under there somewhere. She had bullseye in her mouth and then I draped my coat over her eyes since it was pretty bright in the stadium. She slept for a good while, but again, it was pretty noisy for her little ears!
This morning, my mom and I had some friends over for a little play date. Cole had quite a few friends to play with and it was fun to catch up with the ladies and watch the kiddos play
Here is Cole playing with Henry
Cole, Josiah and Micah running around like crazy men!
This evening, we decided to go down with my parents to downtown Longmont and check out the Beatles cover band that was playing. It was a great night and a lot of fun seeing people we know and watching Cole explore. They closed off a few blocks so the concert was outside.
Here is father and son matching with their camo shorts....ahhhh!!!
Cole was getting fancy with his water bottle skills. He actually was doing pretty good with the water bottle, but did get pretty wet! Hey, it kept him entertained for awhile so whatever works!
This is how wet he got from the water...ah well!
We've had a great few days and still have some fun things planned for the weekend. We are having so much fun and the weather has been unbeatable. I'm so not looking forward to going back to 100 degree heat and terrible humidity that doesn't allow you to be outside...ugh!

Sad day for Momma...

I know Cole has needed a haircut for a couple reasons lately.
1. When we were going through security at the airport, the security lady said to me (referring to Cole), "she was looking at me and is so cute". Um really lady!?! He had BLUE pajamas on!!! Don't worry, I did change him once we went through security into regular clothes. I mean, I'm not just saying this because he's my son, but I really don't think he even looks anything close to a girl!
2. At the zoo today, his head and neck were way super hot, making him cranky
3. I feel like I constantly have to wash his hair because he always runs his fingers through his hair when he eats and food gets stuck in it. If he had less hair, it probably wouldn't be as big of a problem.
So, today my mom gave Cole haircut #200...not really, but probably #6. I'm not sure why this one was so hard for me, probably because Cole has the nicest curly locks and probably deep down I'm jealous of his curls.
Here are a few before pictures
Look at those cute curls!!!! They really aren't AS curly here in Colorado as they are in Texas. When we are at home in Texas, they are the tightest little curls...so cute!
With Cole being almost 17 months and a lot more active, we have to get creative with keeping him entertained while sharp objects are in his face. So, we bought some licorice and that seemed to work pretty well. He's never really had candy before and I don't want to make a habit out of it, but for stuff like this, you gotta do whatever is needed!
What a cheeseball!!!

AND......here is the final product!!! It's still over his ears a little bit, but I still miss those longer locks. :( It really is a cute cut and my mom did a great job, even though she had to dance around a very active toddler. My dad was also very happy to see the shorter hair. :)

Earlier this morning, we went to the Denver Zoo. Pretty sure I had lived in Colorado for 18 plus years and never once been to the zoo. We knew Cole and Cameron probably wouldn't really know what's going on, but it was still fun for us adults. Cole was pretty cranky the first part of the trip and wanted me to hold him the entire time, but after 30 minutes and my back killing me, he had to just cry because he didn't want anyone but momma. Sorry Cole!
We finally filled his belly and then he seemed to really enjoy the rest of the day.

Here is Ryan with his sweet baby girl.
Me and Cole looking at the giraffes.
I think the highlight of Cole's day was the merry-go-round at the end of the day. He really enjoyed it and would giggle when he would see us. My parents had to take him because I get nauseous just watching them...ha!
Overall it was a very fun filled day and again, the weather was awesome! I also just keep telling myself that it took Cole's hair about 2 months to get to the length before his cut, so if I really do miss those locks, he can always grow it out. It might just take some getting used to for me. :) He's still super cute though! :)

Colorado Part 1

Saturday early morning, Nick, Cole and I caught our flight for our 10 day Colorado trip. The night before we left, I think Nick and I got about 3 hours of sleep as Cole had a pretty rough night. He's been having a hard time with some new teeth coming in and was not happy at 1:00am. So, we all were pretty tired the next morning. Normally Cole is such a great traveler and does so well flying, but with him being tired and almost 17 months, that didn't make for a great combination! He did NOT want to sit in the seat or sit still, he wanted to get down and run. I think by 8:00am, he had about 5 packs of fruit snacks...sheesh! We were so happy when we landed!
My parents picked us up at the airport and we headed straight to my niece Cameron's baptism. They had it at a great park and we got to see so many friends and family, it sure was a great get together and for such a great reason!
Here is Cole and dad soooo excited to be out of the car and able to run around :)
Here are the parent, grandparents and Cameron's Aunt Jenna going through the baptism ceremony. Cameron did so well, she's such a great baby!

Cole with Grammy, or "Meme" as he called her. He was chowing down on some good food.
My mom is so funny, I was talking about how Cole needed his diaper changed and I literally was going to just do it real quick there where everyone was hanging out, but my mom said she would take him so she walked to a nearby tree and laid a little blanket down and changed him under the tree..ha!
Me with the cutest little niece ever!
After we went back to my parents house and put Cole down for a nap, we decided to go outside and play for awhile. This weather here truly is unbeatable! It is absolutely perfect outside and you can actually be outside in the middle of the day without dying of heat stroke!
We brought some small footballs outside and Cole was attempting to throw them with Grammy.
Cole with Grandpa....Cole sure has taken a big liking to my dad. When he walks in the house or into the room, Cole will just run to him. So cute! My dad is just wondering when Cole is going to get a hair cut. My dad is just beside himself because Cole's hair goes over his ears! Don't worry, he will be getting a SLIGHT haircut this week.
So cute!!!
While we were getting dinner ready, Cole decided he wanted to sit on the counter and enjoy some avocados and strawberries. He thought he was hot stuff sitting up there.
Nice Nick!!!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!!
Sunday we got up and went to church then all of us went to brunch at the country club. Again, weather was gorgeous so we ate outside. I feel so bad that I didn't even get a picture of Cole with his dad on Father's Day :(
Since it was Father's Day, Nick, my dad, Ryan and Ross went golfing and us girls (and Cole) hung out, did a little shopping and just watched the kids play. Well, watched Cole play and watching Cameron be completely fascinated with her cousin. Whenever they bring Cameron over, Cole is always so interested in her carseat. So eventually, this is what happened.....
I still can't believe that he ever fit in one of those.
Little miss Cameron, just hanging out and doing lots of rolling! She is such a little character. She's making so many funny noises and makes the funniest faces. My mom says she has a little alto voice because when she coos and talks, it's not that typical baby squeak, it's just the sweetest little sound and I'm pretty sure I have video of it that I will have to post.
We have so many fun things planned this week. Tomorrow we are going down to the zoo. We are meeting some good friends there and should have a great time. We also are getting family pictures, going to a Rockies game and also my class reunion. Hopefully this week doesn't fly by too fast!

Old MacDonald

Lately, Cole has been saying so many new words and phrases. Some of his new words are:
ball - sounds a lot like "book"
book - sounds a lot like "ball"...ha!
baby
puppy
Eye
Nose
When I picked him up from the sitter, they said that he was trying to say his ABC's. Teresa said the letters were all mixed up, but he tries :)
One of his latest tricks is he sings along to Old MacDonald. He does the E-I-E-I-O part. I even got him on video. And once again, it was during dinner, he was eating pasta, so he doesn't have clothes on. I promise he had clothes on all day except dinner :) Oh, and don't be jealous of my singing abilities!

Today was such a fun day for me! Our friends Beau and Stacey finally had their baby Grayson yesterday and I was so anxious to go see him. He is such a gorgeous baby with the greatest features and I'm so sad I didn't take my camera with me to the hospital! THEN, my friend Melody had twin boys a month ago so Casey and I went to spend some time with her. Again, precious boys!! I sure was on baby overload today but loved it!

Bells and Crawfish

The past days, weekend have been pretty crazy but SO fun! Last Thursday was my last day of school, then Friday Cole and I had his first Kindermusik class. I was a little nervous because we bumped him up to the 18 month-3 year class since he's borderline so with him being the youngest I didn't know how he would do. He actually did pretty well but mostly just sat and watched. The teacher said that is totally normal and they get more and more comfortable each time.
We came home and Cole helped me pick up the house a little bit and finish some cleaning.
He wanted to help me clean the back door....
But didn't take him long to run off with the paper towels...ha!

Cole also thought it would be fun to help dad clean the grill
(Disclaimer: I promise that 90% of the time my child has clothes on, but for some reason he never seems to have clothing on when I take his picture)
Later that evening, our friends the Bells came into town from Houston and we had a great evening. After we put the kiddos to bed, we ate steaks, drank wine and just hung out and were able to catch up. PLUS, we are taking a trip with them next December so we discussed places that we might want to go. We can't wait!
Saturday, I had to go to my high schools graduation so I missed out on going to the pool with the Bells and kiddos. When I got back from graduation, we had to quickly get ready for our Crawfish Boil. Luckily, Cole took a 3 hour nap that day so we were able to get a lot done!

Finally our guests started arriving and I could not believe how many kids were there for the afternoon!!! I think was only part of them too! Yes, my son is the one with red shorts and orange crocs :)
And....2 more babies on the way! Poor Stacey, (on the right) she is absolutely miserable as baby Grayson is due anytime!
We purchased 160lbs of crawfish and probably ate about 130lbs by the end of the night! It was nuts how much we had! We sure had a great turn out and it was so great catching up with friends and family!
Here is Craig and Aimee...she is also having baby Brody in the fall.
All the kids ran around, went swimming and also enjoyed some hot dogs
And again....my son has no clothes on. It was hot, what can I say?
Here is Cole with his bestie.....Miss Lexie!
Me and my hubs....love him!
As the night went on and most of the kiddos left, everyone started getting a little crazy. Why is my husband always the one dancing and being silly??
Like I said....things got crazy. For some reason Nick and Ryan thought it would be fun to have a wrestling match. Pretty sure Ryan got his rear-end handed to him!
After a great party and lots of clean up, we were able to enjoy the rest of the weekend. Sunday we mostly just hung out at the house (we didn't make it to church...oops!) and watched Cole and Reagan play. Cole was being so sweet with her and was sharing his toys so nicely.
Cole watching Sharon take pictures of little Reagan
"Here Reagan, you can have my duck"....so sweet!
Cole loved Sharon, he kept backing his rear end up into her and sitting on her lap.
We had such a great weekend with all our friends and family. It was a great way to kick off the summer! Now we are getting ready to head to Colorado next weekend and I cannot wait!!! It can't come fast enough!
